Hugh Johnson said of Barolo “it takes practice to understand this powerful and astringent wine” yet Pier Paolo Monti makes it easy with this expressive, approachable 2010. There are few better introductions to the brilliance of northern Italian reds.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Described by Robert Parker as a young producer “definitely of the modernist school”, Pier Paolo Monti is renowned for the close attention he pays to every stage of winemaking. And it shows in the superb quality of his wines. He founded his estate in Piedmont’s Langhe hills in 1996 by purchasing 10 hectares of vines and building a state of the art winery. Here he grows six grape varieties, including Nebbiolo for his Barolo, Cabernet and Merlot. Over the years his wines have won many medals, which he puts down to attentive vineyard management. A superb example of 2010, this modern Barolo has smoky truffle aromas, with baked plum, rose and oak spice notes. Let the wine breathe and serve with game.
