La Parde is the second wine of Graves Cru Classé estate, Château Haut Bailly, situated in premium Pessac-Léognan. 2011 was a more difficult vintage, but sometimes that means an even better wine. "A sleeper of the vintage", La Parde is now a beauty.

The Wine
Château Haut Bailly has a long history (vines were grown there as early as 1461), but in the last 10 years it has really hit its stride. It was purchased in 1998 by the American banker Robert G Wilmers, a lifelong lover of Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé wines. He poured in much investment and brought in Veronique Sanders as winemaker. The uplift in style and quality has been phenomenal, while the introduction of a second wine, La Parde, has ensured a stricter selection process. Always renowned for a sublime silkiness and smoothness, the wine now also has superb depth of fruit, concentration and structure thanks to its talented winemaker. 2011 was a difficult vintage, that has, after a few years, turned into a beauty, as you'll enjoy here.
