Georges Bertrand Cuvée Hommage 2019
Corbières AOC
Loading...
This gorgeous red was first made 50 years ago by the great Georges Bertrand, during one of our first forays into the Languedoc. It was a huge success and half a century later, Georges' very talented son, Gérard, made us this rich, velvety Corbières.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Bertrand is one of the great family names of the Languedoc. We first met Georges Bertrand in 1972 and he agreed to make a rich, warm Corbières red, using grapes from his estate, Domaine de Villemajou. Georges used special whole grape fermentation and, with its velvety, warm, ripe black fruit, the wine was an instant hit. 50 years on, his son, Gérard, has made us Cuvée Hommage, a tribute to his dad. A hugely successful rugby player, Gérard gave up the sport for wine. He's won a huge number of awards, including most recently 'Master Winemaker of the World 2023' (Drinks Business). It's in the same style as the original – Carignan, Syrah and Grenache from the domaine, whole grape fermented to bring out the rich herby black fruit and spice.
