The quality of wines coming from South Africa has never been better. The FT described them as "gorgeous, often underpriced". This Reserve Chardonnay was slow fermented using wild yeast, bringing even richer flavours of creamy peach and bright citrus.

The Wine
Critics write, "South African winemakers are producing an abundance of world-class wines". Excelsior Estate has been doing that for 160 years, since its foundation in Robertson in 1859. Today it’s still owned by the De Wet family, with father and son duo – Freddie and Peter – running the show. They can boast family who planted their first vine in 1697! Today, their philosophy is that great wine is made in the vineyard. Their Heritage Reserve range uses their finest grapes from the lowest-yielding vines on the region’s premium limestone soils, all to ensure rich flavour. Only wild yeast from the grape skins is used, which produces a wine with broader flavours. Enjoy this creamy, unoaked, peachy Chardonnay with white meats or salmon.
