The Wine
The man behind Château Pétrus, one of Bordeaux’s finest and most sought-after clarets, was bound to make waves in the Napa. Christian Moueix studied at Davis in the 1960s and fell in love with the Napa. He bought into the historic Napanook Vineyard in the early 1980s, finally taking control in 1995. The stunning Dominus winery, designed by visionary Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, is as much a Californian icon as the wine itself. The 2021 has been highly praised, with 99 points from Suckling. “The purity of the cabernet fruit is so enticing, with blackcurrant, rose petals, nettles and subtle graphite. Touches of terra cotta and licorice. Full-bodied with super integrated tannins that are wonderfully polished.”
