The Wine
Pinot Noir is well known in the wines of Burgundy and Champagne, but it's also a top performer in the finest chalk and limestone soils of the Loire's Sancerre. This pretty rosé comes from Chavignol, a renowned Sancerre village that rivals the appellation’s fine whites for quality and stature. Serge and Elisabeth Laporte’s 10 hectare domaine has been in the family for generations and it looks set to remain so for at least one more. They have been joined by their son Guillaume who studied oenology in Tours. His input has brought further quality and finesse to an already excellent cuvée. Picked at perfect ripeness, it sings of floral, summer berry fruit and citrus minerality. An elegant crisp pink to enjoy with lobster, seared tuna or chicken.
