Wine Advocate described a previous vintage of this fragrant, mineral laced white as “a dead ringer for fine Condrieu”. Yet it’s at a much kinder price. From vineyards close by and a terrific winemaker, this is an extremely fine, oak fermented white.

The Wine
Wine Spectator described Stéphane Ogier’s wines as “dynamic and elite”, while Wine Advocate wrote “the estate is unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in the Rhône Valley”. Stéphane took over from his father in the late 1990s, added to the vineyards extensively (he owns 10 hectares in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint Joseph) and built himself a gleaming, modern cellar. Terroir is his raison d’être. Grapes for Viognier de Rosine come from elevated, granite soil vineyards bordering Côte-Rôtie, just north of Condrieu. Their terroir lends the wine its wonderful minerally elegance that balances the floral peach fruit. Fermentation and lees ageing in part new oak (20%) barrels for two thirds of the wine brings delicate, toasty complexity.
