Domaine François Berthenet Montagny 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes 2020
Montagny is a top appellation of Côte Châlonnaise in southern Burgundy. So good are its wines, that all are Premier Cru. We love the whites from the Berthenet family, this fine 2020 long aged on lees to lend creamy weight to the apple fruit.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
The Berthenet family have been growing grapes for almost 400 years. The current estate, however, now with its winery, was only established in 1974. The founder was Jean-Pierre, who initially supplied grapes to the local co-op, but in 2001, with the help of his son, François, now the winemaker, they took the brave step of making the wine themselves. They have never looked back. Nearly all the 20 hectares of vines grow Chardonnay, with a small portion of Aligoté and Pinot Noir, and some grapes used for their delicious Crémant. They favour sustainable methods, the first to do so in the appellation, grassing over between the vine rows and working with the soil to bring it to life. Aged 10 months on lees, this is a fine, expressive Montagny.
