The Wine
Special wines from top Beaujolais Crus are selected for our Cru Secret label. Always sourced from winegrowers with an unerring focus on quality, these often-small volumes marry finely crafted elegance with superb expression of the terroir. Morgon is the second largest of the region’s crus and produces the region’s firmest wine, typified by their pure aromas and dense Gamay fruit. This 2014 displays fresh, cherry aromas with juicy kirsch, blueberry and spice notes, balanced by silky tannins from ageing a quarter of the cuvée in French oak barrels. Crisp and bright with a lingering, complex finish, this wine can be enjoyed now or, if cellared well, matured longer. Decant beforehand – it's a classic with roast chicken, duck or wild mushrooms.
