At his third generation family estate in Chianti’s premium Rufina district, Paolo Masi crafts consistently superb, award winning wines. He has done so ever since he graduated top of his class from university in Florence and took over the family property in 1990. He makes a whole range of wines – from crisp whites to intense Super Tuscan reds, and, most importantly, Chianti. Poggerissi is a soft cherry rich Sangiovese made just like Chianti but from grapes grown within and just outside the appellation boundaries. 2015’s exceptionally hot, dry summer created super concentrated grapes, so this gorgeous, silky, cherry scented red has plenty of intense fruit as well as freshness. You’ll find it perfect on its own or with pizza, pasta or chicken.
