The Wine
This 99-point 2019 is from one of very few elite châteaux creating claret of a quality that can compete with next-door First Growth estates. Leading publication Wine Advocate wrote of this sublime Pauillac, “A real head-turner, this beauty is absolutely going to steal your heart!”, "Full-bodied, rich and fantastically opulent", while Suckling wrote, "really amazing, with a potpourri of spices and dried flowers, as well as redcurrants, sweet plums and even some peaches." It's aged 35% in amphorae, half in new-oak barrels, 15% in one-year casks, all from organic grapes. With such poise, power and seductive richness, it's a real star of the vintage and demands first-class dishes. Enjoy with beef Wellington or lamb. Decant early or cellar.
