The Wine
Cru Bourgeois is a term all lovers of great claret know to look for on a label. Unlike many quality designations it has to be re-earned every vintage, so it’s a sure guarantee of excellence. What’s more, Cru Bourgeois wines generally offer some of the best value in Bordeaux, and that’s certainly true of Fleur La Mothe. Three top consultant winemakers, Antoine Médeville, Edouard Massie, and Henri Boyer, bought 15 hectares of prime Médoc vineyard in 2008. They set about creating a wine that would be a shining example of classic Left Bank claret. Grapes are hand picked from 50 year old vines, with long ageing in French oak barrels. After 9 years age, this is a dark, smoky, complex Cru Bourgeois with a long finish. Perfect for current drinking.
