The Wine
This prestige Champagne is worthy of your finest celebration. It’s from one of the best-known Champagne houses in the world, established in 1743 by a Dutchman, hence the t of Moët is pronounced. Their Grand Vintage wines are a magnificent range, all aged on lees in the cellar for 6-7 years, with another six months’ maturation after dosage. Pinot Noir excelled in 2015 and is a major part of this blend, supported by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Low yields accounted for even more intensity. Hugh Johnson writes that Moët’s wines are “always a good representative of the character of each vintage, yet with that supple, creamy style that runs through the whole Moët range”. This Champagne makes great drinking now, but will continue to mature.
