The Wine
Dom Pérignon has been Moët et Chandon’s most luxurious cuvée since its inaugural 1921 vintage and it is only made when quality is outstanding. Many Champagne houses chose not to produce a vintage in 2010, due to the two days of torrential rain in August. However, Moët took a risk, were hugely vigilant in the vineyard, were ruthless in their grape selection and have been amply rewarded. Both their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were harvested with perfect levels of ripeness and acidity. And judging by Suckling's impressive 98 point score, they have made one of the finest ever editions. Only released after several years in the cellar, this Champagne is ravishing now, but will age magnificently, adding extraordinary complexity and finesse.
