Aussières dates back to Roman times. No wonder it stirred the interest of Baron Eric de Rothschild, who saw “exceptional potential”. He was right and it is now classed as one of Languedoc's top estates, showcased by this superb Cabernet Syrah.

The Wine
You’ll have heard of Château Lafite, “Bordeaux’s most famous property, synonymous with wealth, prestige and remarkable clarets” (Robert Parker). But did you know the winemaking team occasionally pick an estate from outside Bordeaux and polish it into a world beater worthy of the Lafite Rothschild name? Not many do. Fewer still get to try the wines. You have the opportunity here with Aussières, from a Languedoc estate purchased by Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1999. It’s a rich, deeply flavoured red full of spicy southern French charm, set apart by rare elegance and complexity thanks to Lafite’s expertise. Low yields in 2017 resulted in superb fruit intensity in this wine. Delicious with hearty roasts, cassoulet or mature cheeses.
