That England can produce some of the world's finest sparkling wine is now a given! Henry Laithwaite, along with Barbara, his mum, at Wyfold, have certainly led the way. As you might imagine, with his wine trekking dad, Henry was 'born' in a vineyard and was making his first wine by 13. At 18, he gained a few vintages of experience in Oz, crafting single barrels of big Parker-point reds. Then to Bordeaux to learn a more elegant style. In 2010, he returned to England with his wife Kaye and found the perfect spot for a vineyard. On the flint rocks and chalky soils of the rolling hills above Marlow. They completed a winery in 2015. Using Champagne's classic grapes, 30% oak fermented and all aged 20 months on lees, this is fizz of great finesse.
