- Laithwaites Opens New Farnham Store
[November 14th, 2025]
Farnham’s High Street is about to get a little more delicious. Laithwaites, the family-run online wine merchant, is opening the doors to a new shop this November – bringing a handpicked selection of bottles from around the world to local wine lovers in time for Christmas.
To celebrate, Laithwaites Farnham hosted a Grand Opening Event on Saturday 8th November, inviting Farnham locals, wine enthusiasts and members of the press to raise a glass and explore the new shelves.
Guests enjoyed complimentary tastings, prize giveaways and a mini wine school experience throughout the day, while meeting the team behind the new shop and discovering signature Laithwaites’ wines that champion small producers, quality winemaking and great value.
There were also canapés provided by neighbouring COOK, as part of a longer-term plan to work together to champion food and wine on Farnham’s high-street.
“I’ve always loved Farnham’s independent spirit – it feels like the perfect home for our kind of wine shop,” said Tony Laithwaite, founder of Laithwaites. “Since our very first store under the arches in Windsor, shops have been an important way of meeting like-minded wine lovers and sharing the stories of the amazing wines our Buyers discover on their travels around the world. We don’t care if you don’t know your Sauvignon from your Sangiovese … we can do that bit. Just come in and say hello. We can’t wait to get to know our new neighbours and share a few glasses together.”
The team behind Laithwaites believe that great wine should be for accessible for everyone. That’s why each shop is run by a team of WSET-trained experts and wine enthusiasts, features a wide range of styles and price points, and runs daily free tastings for customers.
The Farnham store will feature a selection of bottles from Laithwaites’ range of 1,800 wines, beers and spirits – championing family-run vineyards, organic and sustainable producers, as well as hidden gems and exclusive -to-Laithwaites customer favourites.

Note to Editors – About Laithwaites Wine
Laithwaites Wine was founded in 1969, when Tony Laithwaite drove a van of Bordeaux wine to England to share with family and friends. Laithwaites has since grown to become one of the UK’s largest wine merchants, yet remains family-owned and still gives pride of place to smaller producers.
The Laithwaites wine team tastes over 40,000 wines a year before selecting the best buys for customers. Laithwaites offers 1,800 wines from 26 countries, ranging in price from £4.99 up to £1,200 a bottle and all covered by a 100% guarantee of enjoyment.
They also offer an extensive gifts range, complimentary Wine Advisor service, and host a range of events. Laithwaites Wine is the only UK wine merchant to win the Service Mark accreditation from the Institute of Customer Service and has twice been awarded Online Retailer of the Year.
Laithwaites is delighted to be one of ten leading retailers which have signed up to the 'SWR Bottle Weight Accord'. Founded in 2021, the Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) is the only global independent multistakeholder roundtable in wine. Jancis Robinson is a founding member and with now more than 100 members from around the world, the SWR has become the centre for collaborative action across the wine supply chain.
