The Wine
The 2016 Voerzio Martini comes from one of the rising stars of Barolo. Twins Mirko and Federica Martini took the reins from their cousin Gianni Voerzio in 2015 and have quickly built a reputation for elegant, expressive wines. They farm some of Barolo’s finest crus – including La Serra and Monvigliero – with a gentle, sustainable approach. This wine hails from La Morra, a village known for its perfumed and graceful Barolos. You’ll find aromas of dark cherry, plum and mocha, followed by silky tannins, spice and a touch of leather. Aged for two years in French oak and awarded 93 points by Wine Spectator – it’s gorgeous now but will repay cellaring for many years to come.
