The Wine
The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years and has vines in some of Germany’s best rated vineyards. Located in far western Germany, the Mosel valley’s steep, south facing slopes create the perfect climate for Riesling. Plenty of sun combined with the cool climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining bright acidity. This medium dry Riesling is produced with fruit from estate owned vineyards. Following the traditional methods of Ernst Loosen’s great-grandfather, this wine is fermented in 3,000-litre, neutral oak casks and kept on full lees for 12 months. The result is a beautiful fruit filled Riesling with plenty of citrusy zip and floral notes. Ideal with creamy pasta or well spiced eastern dishes.
