Château Haut-Batailley was bought by the Cazes family of Château Lynch Bages fame in 2017. Since then, the wines have gone from strength to strength, but their prices have yet to catch up. Remarkably affordable for Pauillac, now is a great time to buy.
The 2019 Verso is drinking beautifully with vibrant blackcurrant and cassis, layered with hints of cedar and spice. “This Deuxième Vin is endowed with splendid concentration. Classic in style, with just a touch of black pepper toward the finish. Well worth seeking out. 91points, Vinous.com.
