Ulithorne Prospera McLaren Vale Shiraz 2022

The Ulithorne winery was founded in 1950 when Bob Whiting planted thirty acres of vines in McLaren Vale’s now-famous sub-region of Blewitt Springs. Over the decades it has cemented its reputation as an iconic Australian producer, known for its “small-batch, high-quality wines” (Halliday Wine Companion).
Ulithorne Prospera Shiraz is crafted from grapes grown on the estate’s Blewitt Springs vineyard and matured for eighteen months in seasoned French oak. Marcus Ellis of Halliday Wine Companion awards the wine 93 points, praising its “cavalcade of plum, blackberry and ripe raspberry, with black cherry pastille, licorice, vanilla and iron.”
A supple, fruit-rich Shiraz like this is brilliant with grilled lamb cutlets, rosemary-roasted veg or a hearty mushroom and lentil bake. If you can, give it a quick swirl in a decanter to let those dark-fruit aromas stretch out.
