The Wine
Jim Barry now has legendary status. He was the first qualified winemaker to work the Clare Valley, graduating from Adelaide’s Roseworthy College in 1947. Jim spent the next two decades working at a cellar in Clare and establishing the valley as a top destination for fine Riesling. After that, he proved to the world that the cooler elevated vineyards also made incredible reds. Hence the fame of his Armagh Shiraz. He set up Jim Barry Wines in 1959, where he was joined by sons Peter, Mark and John, and now by three grandchildren too. This superb red is from a selection of Jim Barry vineyards, including the renowned Lodge Hill, McRae Wood and Watervale sites. Rich, intense yet restrained, this fruit laden red is ideal with barbecued best steak.
