Flavour Profile
South Ridge Cuvée Merret Brut is a classic English sparkling wine from Ridgeview Estate. Mike Roberts started the project in 1994 with one aim – to craft world-class fizz on the South Downs.
He chose the site for its chalk and clay soils, identical to those in Champagne, and a climate that suits Chardonnay and Pinot Noir perfectly. The results speak for themselves – so much so that major Champagne houses have tried to buy Ridgeview, and Taittinger has even snapped up land nearby.
The Roberts family named this cuvée after Christopher Merret, the Englishman who discovered the traditional method for making sparkling wine decades before the French, presenting his findings to London’s Royal Society in 1662.
With its fine bubbles and fabulous flavour, this sparkler is delicious on its own or paired with canapés.
