When Aussie Chardonnay first leapt onto the world stage, its style tended to be big, ripe and oaky. Now you can expect wines with a much lighter touch of juicy orchard fruit and delicious freshness. Just what you’ll find in this appealing white.

The Wine
There is lots of bright, bold fruit and fresh appeal in this new white from an old friend in New South Wales, Australia. Its name refers to the first half of the century, when the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area was redeveloped to provide settlement areas for soldiers returning from the World Wars. The 20-acre farms were designed to be just the right size to sustain a family, and the area became one with a strong culture of community. Soldier Farms is a tribute to this heritage. It’s pure Chardonnay, with appealing ripe peach and nutmeg, pleasing roundness and a balancing zip of citrus freshness. Lovely to sip on its own, it’s a great choice with roast chicken, a creamy fish pie or spicy Asian cuisine.
