Flavour Profile
Shaw and Smith began in 1989 when, over a family lunch, cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith decided to realise a long-held dream: to make wine together.
They’re based in Adelaide Hills – one of the most vibrant wine regions in Australia, most famous for its vibrant, elegant Sauvignon Blanc. By growing the best possible grapes and managing their vineyards sustainably, Martin and Michael have built an enviable reputation for quality. James Halliday rates Shaw and Smith at 5 Red Stars, signifying “an outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality.”
Shaw and Smith produce a wide range of critically acclaimed wines – but they are best known for this superb Sauvignon Blanc. It is a household name in Australia, regarded with the same reverence as New Zealand’s legendary Cloudy Bay.
James Suckling awards the Shaw and Smith M3 Chardonnay 2023 an outstanding 93 points, commenting: “Fresh and vibrant, with refined aromas of lychees, orange blossoms, cut grass, candied limes and flint.”
Pair with shellfish dishes such as pasta alla vongole or pan-seared scallops with herb butter.
