The iconic Super Tuscan style – a blend of native Italian grapes with international varieties – was first championed by Piero Antinori in the 1970s. These wines kick-started the region’s renaissance and became some of the most exclusive and expensive in the world.
Saracosa is crafted by award-winning winemaker Sofia Barbanera at her family estate, overlooked by the Saracosa hill near Montalcino. Half of the vineyards lie within the prestigious Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, with the rest just outside the official boundary. Low-yielding vines deliver intensely concentrated grapes, as you’ll taste in this expressive red wine.
Luscious layers of dark berry fruit, warm spice and a hint of vanilla make this elegant wine a delicious pairing with local favourites such as pasta with wild boar ragù, salami or grilled lamb.
