Flavour Profile
In 2006 Sacha Lichine bought Château D’Esclans in Provence with one aim: to produce the greatest rosé in the world. To many he has done just that – first with Whispering Angel and now, even finer, his Rock Angel.
Lichine is a perfectionist – insisting on sorting the grapes by size, colour, health and even shape. Rock Angel is made from a classic Provence blend of Grenache, plus Cinsault, Vermentino, Syrah and Tibouren with gentle oak ageing to lend a touch of creaminess.
Fine wine critic James Suckling awards the 2024 92 points and writes: “A well-rounded, juicy and flavorful rosé with frozen berries, dried apricots and wild herbs on the nose.”
More structured than its sibling, the beautifully aromatic Rock Angel has an elegance similar to finest Sancerre. A superb rosé to serve with seafood.
