Flavour Profile
Rich, juicy and packed with flavour, RedHeads Wilson Gunn Bellum is a cracking Cabernet Shiraz from two of Australia’s premium regions.
Henry Laithwaite is the originator of this wine, but he now has his hands full with his own English Sparkling wine estate. So the resident RedHeads winemaker steps up to the plate. He was handed a gift too.
The Shiraz grapes were top notch for starters – from some of the winery's finest growers – usually destined for their Icon wines. The Cabernet is from Coonawarra, Australia's best region for this variety. It was a parcel originally destined for a larger cellar's flagship wine, but was wrongly delivered to RedHeads. The grower rang and apologised for the fortuitous accident.
It made a cracking wine and now they get it every year! This is a powerful, well-balanced red, with dense, ripe fruit and layers of flavour that pair deliciously with roast beef or grilled lamb chops. Open early and decant.
