Cabernet meets dark, undead Touriga and resurrected Petit Verdot – a blend that promises to be thicker than blood, hold more body than a city morgue and more tannin than a mouthful of fish hooks. A break-out red from the innovative RedHead studio.

The Wine
Portuguese varieties used to be planted all over Australia. They made the magnificent fortified sweet wines for which the country was renowned. Over the last 30 years, however, with encouragement from a Government vine-pull scheme, most of them have been ripped out and replaced with the usual Chardonnay / Shiraz brigade. RedHeads – a tiny boutique winery situated in the heart of the Barossa – have tracked down the remnants of these forgotten varieties, and the result is this punchy, powerful, huge on flavour red. It’s non vintage, because it’s blended from an array of different years to hit – bull’s-eye – the desired flavour, richness and power. Crunchy Eden Valley Cabernet, with Barossa’s Seppeltsfield Touriga, and Petit Verdot too. Tasty.
