The Barossa’s eco RedHeads love to make one-off wines from a single batch of grapes that are simply too good to blend away, so they star them solo. This red is pure Grenache, barrel-matured and offering lots of silky blackberry fruit and spice.

The Wine
RedHeads is a terrific, eco winery based in the Barossa Valley – solar-powered and big on water reuse, with a reservoir in the grounds to catch the scarce rainwater. They are great mates with some of the best growers in the premium regions of South Australia, so have access to some of the finest parcels of grapes. This wine is pure Grenache from grower Adrian Hoffy Hoffman’s prized 70 year old vines in the Barossa’s Ebenezer district. A variety fast catching on in Oz, it produces a more fruit-driven style than Shiraz, easier going without food. Carefully fermented with 9 months ageing in seasoned oak barrels, it’s silky with ripe blackberry and red fruit with a lovely juiciness. Great for sipping on its own or with braised beef.
