The Story Behind the Bottle
RedHeads was Tony Laithwaite’s moment of inspiration that became a reality in 2002 – Bordeaux “garagiste winemaking without the pretension”. RedHeads started in McLaren Vale in a shed with lots of second hand kit, then moved to the Barossa. Whatever the region, the team have been great at maintaining strong connections with their grower mates. That way they've ensured a good supply of top notch grapes every year. This is a dark blend of Bordeaux varieties Cabernet, Merlot and even denser, big spice Petit Verdot, all from top areas in South Australia including Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale. Supple red fruits with a hint of cedar but still with quite a punch – the wine (say the team) is a dream with kangaroo steak. Great at a barbecue too.
