The Wine
It’s no wonder that Pillastro is one of our bestselling Italian reds. Customers love its richness, warmth and bold, ripe fruit. And now it’s in an impressive 1.5 litre magnum - even more to go round! This gem hails from Puglia, in Italy’s deep south, renowned for big, smoky wines crafted from local grapes, Primitivo and Negroamaro. This wine is the creation of Angelo Maci, a leading figure in the quality revolution of the last two decades, whose cellar Cantine Due Palme has won ‘Winery of the Year’ four times. Angelo crafted this wine purely from Primitivo, lending it notes of vanilla spice from its oak ageing. It’s the ideal centrepiece for a large family meal. A tasty treat with hearty casseroles, rich pasta dishes or garlic roasted lamb.
