The Story Behind the Bottle
Plan de Dieu is one of the renowned Côtes du Rhône Villages and has long been known for the quality of its wines. In fact, it’s thought the name ‘Plain of God’ was given to the area by the nuns of Prébayon Abbey in medieval times because it was considered such a special place for winemaking. Its stony soils produce wines similar in style to neighbouring Châteauneuf-du-Pape but at a fraction of the price. A blend of Grenache, with a little Syrah and Mourvèdre, this rich, dark red from Laurent Guillot is brimming with ripe plum and blackberry fruit, wild herbs and spice. Great with hearty casseroles in winter or smoky barbecued food in summer.
