The Wine
A superb red that will appeal to lovers of both fine Italian wines and Bordeaux. It’s made by award-winning Pier Paolo Monti, who founded the estate in 1996 in the heart of the Langhe hills. He invited his winemaker friend Roberto Gerbino to join him. Having purchased several vineyards, they built a state-of-the-art winery with separate, extensive underground cellars for maturing the wines and made it all solar-powered. They produce this powerful red from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Nebbiolo grapes from their own vineyards. Each variety is matured in French oak for a year and then the final assemblage aged in barrel for 12-18 months, to make this rich and complex red. 8 years old, it’s drinking well and ideal with roast meats.
A superb red that will appeal to lovers of both fine Italian wines and Bordeaux.
