Flavour Profile
Momtazi Family Estate Pinot Noir ticks all the boxes for fine wine fans – a top region, its best red grape and an irresistible wine. And it has a great story, too.
It’s from Moe Momtazi who, with his wife Flora, fled Iran during the revolution and settled in America. Moe found work as a civil engineer, but winemaking is in his blood. His grandfather grew grapes, and his father made wine in the family’s basement.
After a decade in the United States, Moe finally achieved his dream of buying a winery and planting vines. He made his first vintage in 2001, and the results have been phenomenal. Today the Momtazi family estate is among the most renowned properties in Oregon’s renowned Willamette Valley.
The grapes for this red were hand-harvested from the biodynamic Maysara Vineyard, and the wine was aged in French oak. Serve in large-bowled glasses to show at its best.
