The Story Behind the Bottle
There’s no doubt about it, Big Mac McPherson makes a mean, BIG red. The Angus is a gobstopper of a wine with lovely, rich, fruity appeal and a touch of firmness that makes it great with food. Winemaker Andrew McPherson was tutored by his entrepreneurial father Jock, who established a winery in the Hunter in 1968. Andrew travelled the world designing and building wineries and juice processing plants, and in the 1980s held down a top job with Wyndham Estate Wines. He now ‘goes it alone’, having built a cellar for himself in Victoria in 2000. The third generation of the family assists in the winery, which boasts a rating of 4.5 Stars from top Aussie critic James Halliday. Decant The Angus and serve with slow cooked lamb or rare roast beef.
