Madame Veuve Point Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020
Bourgogne AOC

Named after a plucky, 19th-century lady winegrower, this is an opulent, creamy, ripe peach white with zesty freshness. The grapes are all from the excellent-value Mâconnais, fermented cool and aged on lees for delicious roundness to match the fruit.

The Wine
Geraldine Point is the great-great-granddaughter of the original Madame Veuve Point. Daughter of vignerons in Solutré, near Pouilly-Fuissé, Jeanne-Marie married Jean-Claude Point in 1895. They lived very happily until 1903, when she was left a widow at 26. She then devoted herself to tending the vineyards and making wines in order to raise her son properly. Her efforts were rewarded in 1904, when she was awarded the Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition in the States. Geraldine proudly continues the family's heritage today. All the grapes for this bright, creamy Burgundy come from the Mâconnais and are cool fermented in tank with a few months lees ageing. Lovely ripe fruit and roundness, it's great with creamy-sauced white meats or fish.
