Lustau Oloroso Almacenista Pata de Gallina Sherry (50cl)

Bodegas Emilio Lustau has a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest producers of sherry. In 2025 this was recognised at the International Wine Challenge, when it won the Trophy for Spain’s Most Awarded Winery (for the third time) after winning four other Trophies at that competition and many golds. Later that year Sergio Martínez, their Cellar master, was awarded Best Fortified Winemaker in the World for the seventh time.
Bodegas Emilio Lustau was founded in 1896 when José Ruiz Berdejo first planted vines at his family estate. Initially he sold his wines to larger sherry houses. His daughter, María, continued her father’s legacy, marrying a gentleman named Emilio Lustau Ortega, who moved operations into the historic centre of Jerez de la Frontera.
Today they are renowned for their magnificent sherries right across the range – from intense, mineral-fresh Finos to the great aged Almacenistas and their innovative Vermut blends.
Oloroso Pata del Galina Almacenista is a magnificent, rich, complex blend of 38 casks that have been aged in the temperate 100-year-old cellars of El Aljibe in Jerez for 15 years. Pata del Gallina indicates a sherry with particularly high levels of richness and smoothness. Dark gold, it offers aromas of dried fruits and smoky pipe tobacco, leading onto flavours of powerful intensity and a salty tang on the finish. Beautifully balanced and long. Sip slowly on its own at the end of a meal, or with strong game dishes like venison or cheeses.
