The Wine
Many have heard of Château Lafite Rothschild – “Bordeaux’s most famous property” (Robert Parker) – but few know of its sister estate Los Vascos in Chile. Parker also praises Los Vascos for turning out “classy, elegant, stylish wines”. The team there dedicated three years to perfecting this Grande Reserve cuvée and optimising the superb purity and freshness of their estate grown fruit. They work hard in the vineyard to bring out all the grapes’ character and enable each variety to reach perfect ripeness. This wine is a masterful blend of Bordeaux grapes with Syrah, aged for a year in French oak barrels. Dark plum, cherry and cassis with spice and freshness, it’s an elegant red. Decant and serve with roast lamb, duck or spicy squash tagine.
