The Story Behind the Bottle
Long Live the King is a fine tribute to one of Australia’s most resilient and picturesque wine regions. As recently as 1995, there was a phylloxera outbreak in the King Valley region in Victoria’s High Country. It was feared that the wine industry there might not survive. But a few conscientious winemakers dug in deep and stayed loyal to The King. They have since gone on to make some of Australia’s greatest wines. In 2016 our old friend Bill Calabria harvested grapes from a number of outstanding King Valley vineyards to make this superb red. The seamless palate is rich with sweet dark berries, cherry, plum and just a hint of nutmeg, lifted by King Valley’s typical cool climate elegance. Enjoy with aged steak or mature farmhouse Cheddar.
