Sancerre is arguably the world’s greatest expression of Sauvignon. La Damnée, sourced from of the region’s steepest vineyard slopes, radiates with purity and invigorating freshness, with a touch of extra ripeness thanks to the heat of late summer.

The Wine
The vineyards of Les Monts Damnés in Sancerre are formidably steep, characterised by their chalky-clay slopes. Legend has it that the name ‘Monts Damnés’ came from the dread experienced by workers having to face the inclines of ‘those damned slopes’ - so much so, the name stuck. Grape growers are known for strapping on cushions for protection. But with the risk comes the reward – wines that are distinctive, intensely flavoured and elegant. Bruno and Thierry Prieur hail from a lineage of Sancerre winemakers and, out of their 30 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, consider La Damnée their best. This wine strikes the perfect balance between ripe fruitiness and crisp acidity, making it the ideal companion for seafood, oysters or grilled goat’s cheese.
