Joseph Castan Excellence Merlot 2018

This premium quality wine not only captures Merlot’s smoothness and renowned creamy plum and cedar complexity but also reflects in equal measure the sun blessed charm of the South of France. A perfect combination for serious yet leisurely enjoyment. It’s made by Vianney Castan, inheritor of the renowned wine company established by his great grandfather Joseph Castan in 1907. Grapes were sourced from the foothills of the Cévennes, an hour inland from Montpellier. This is a ripe, supple claret style that makes appealing drinking. With fragrant berry aromas, fleshy succulent fruit and the smoothest of textures, the wine is ideal with artisan saucisson sec (cured sausage) and cheese, a rich pork and bean casserole, or steak with mushroom sauce.
