Fontodi Chianti Classico 2020
From one of Tuscany's finest producers, this is the winery's superb, 94-point Chianti Classico. Using all organic grapes and aged 18 months in barrique and cask, it is intense, rich and weighty. Built to last, so ideally tuck away for a while.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded by a family who first specialised in Tuscany's terracotta tiles, Fontodi was adopted by Domiziano and Dino Manetti in 1968. At that time, it was a run-down, derelict estate, lying just south of Chianti's prized Panzano. They immediately set about putting it to rights and today it's rated as one of the leading properties of the Classico region. They boast 70 hectares of vines, all certified organic, in the prized Tuscan area known as the Conca d'Oro (the golden shell), due to its amphitheatre-like shape. Great soils, sunlight and diurnal temperature difference all contribute to the amazing quality of the wines, with the great Giovanni Manetti at the helm. Using all French oak, this a very fine Classico. Decant early or age.
