The Wine
The Single Quinta ports of Panascal are meant to be a pure expression of this great estate's superb terroir. It lies on the steep right bank of the Tavira river and has one of the most highly reputed vineyards of the Douro. Since Fonseca took ownership of it in 1978, there has been significant investment in the vineyard. So now the high quality grapes are used for both the Fonseca vintage port and for this single quinta expression. Its signature style is voluptuous fruit, density and a velvety texture – all the luscious character you'll find in this fine port. With 16 years age, it is showing some layers of maturity, but is still relatively young. Decant carefully and serve with cheese. Or enjoy simply as a fine glass to pore over.
