The Wine
Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a highly regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board quality has risen a big step higher. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004 when the family got into financial difficulty. They continue to run it as an independent concern and the family is still very much at the helm. The result is some really impressive wines. Add in the 5-Star quality of 2020 and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous richness and depth of the wine. Pure Syrah, part oak-aged, silky, dense and long. A red that will age well. Open early - ideal with lamb or a rich casserole.
