The Wine
Malbec rules the roost when it comes to big, hearty red wines tailor-made for steak. But this classic red grape also has a softer, more sophisticated side – especially when it comes from coastal Uruguay. This Malbec hails from the Giminez Mendes family’s highly prized Las Brujas vineyard. It’s surrounded by meadows and lies close to the Rio de la Plata, a spectacular estuary that flows into the Atlantic. The grapes are all picked by hand and the wine spends three months ageing in American and French oak barrels. The result is an elegant Malbec, exhibiting classic black fruit and violet aromas, alongside juicy plum and blackberry notes, freshness and velvety tannins. Perfect to serve with charcuterie, aged cheeses or roasted pork.
