The Wine
Philip Shaw is a true legend. He started his winemaking career at 12, after a school trip to Roseworthy, and began washing bottles at Penfolds and Wynns at 15, eventually running the largest operation in Oz, namely Southcorp. From this, he has moved to the smallest, most meticulous production. In 1989 he planted his Koomooloo vineyard in Orange at 900m, starting Philip Shaw wines in 2004, then Hoosegg in 2015 - his dream was to make small parcels of exceptional quality. Twice 'International Winemaker of the Year', the accolades are endless. This great Chardonnay is all hand picked from a single block at Koomooloo, wild yeast fermented in part new oak and long aged on its lees. Gently chill and savour the Burgundian complexity of this white.
