El Bombero (magnum) 2021

For lovers of big, smooth reds, El Bombero is a top choice. It’s from Cariñena, a hot arid region of Spain where sun-loving grapes like Garnacha (same as Châteauneuf’s Grenache) achieve amazing ripeness. There are no fancy châteaux in this part of Spain, but that doesn’t stop this area being home to some of the best value reds in the world. The ancient vines and lack of rain here means fewer grapes on the vines, but this massively concentrates their flavour. Exhibit A: El Bombero. From award-winning winemaker Javier Domeque, El Bombero is packed with spicy black fruit flavour. Delicious on its own and a tasty choice for all manner of dishes, El Bombero is always impressive. And even more so when presented in this 1.5 litre magnum.
