Our Edizione Limitata label is reserved for top-tier Italian wines where we can’t name the source – the winery’s regular customers would be up in arms at the price we’re offering.
Back in the 1980s, this now world-famous estate first made a pure Sangiovese from their best parcels in Chianti Classico. But as it was forbidden to use 100% Sangiovese, it was declassified and sold as a humble table wine.
Today it’s regarded as one of the finest Super Tuscans. Recent vintages have garnered scores between 94-99 points and sell for over £100 a bottle.
So how have we got a parcel from this revered estate for a much more affordable price? Overproduction in 2023 and a difficult market for top-tier fine wine meant they were unusually left with a surplus. Our Italian buyer was quick to step in to help.
Made from 100% Sangiovese, it marries powerful dark berry and cherry fruit with hints of cocoa, violets and leather spice. An ageworthy wine with a seriously fine pedigree, decant before serving and enjoy any time over the next decade.
