Flavour Profile
If you enjoy a richly textured Meursault, you’ll love this more affordable alternative – Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Blanc.
The Matrot family can trace their heritage in the appellation back to the 19th century. Today the estate is in the hands of Thierry and his two daughters Elsa and Adèle. Their splendid Bourgogne Blanc stands out from the crowd as it’s made from the rich fruit of old Chardonnay vines near the leading village of Meursault. Furthermore, it was aged in French oak barrels, a third of which were new, and gains even more richness from stirring of the wine on its lees.
The result is a round, charming white wine with great freshness, fruit and minerality, offering juicy white peach flavours. An ideal pairing with creamy chicken dishes or grilled fish.
